ISLAND BOHEMIAN BC OUTING

ISLAND BOHEMIAN BOWLS CLUB TRIP - 31/8/25

A massive thank you to Carol Curtis for organising this event despite suffering a personal loss recently. Mick would have been very proud of you and I know that he was in all our thoughts throughout the day.

What an experience! When do you have to take a boat trip to play a game of bowls? Well we did on this occasion. Following our coach trip to Reading we were taken eight at a time, over the River Thames to this tiny island which housed the bowls club and not very much else. Once landing our eyes were immediately drawn to the bowls green. Wow, there wasn't a brown patch anywhere! It was in very good condition and it bowled as well as it looked. So much so in fact, that we won overall, the icing on the cake to a lovely day. We also brought some spectators to support those playing. A little chilly at times as it was very windy but not too bad when the sun shone, which it did for the majority of the time.

The club were very welcoming and friendly and their ladies prepared a very nice two course meal following the game. There was fortunately none left for the ducks! We were told that they are starting to return following the death of the mink (who mysteriously arrived only to disappear last year) whilst during its stay had eradicated them from the island.

Thank you Island Bohemian Bowls Club for a very enjoyable day, We will definitely return when you are able to fit us in to your very busy timetable. A very memorable and happy experience
